So today Angelina Jolie had double mastectomy, which is the removal of one’s breasts, to prevent Breast cancer. So instead of praising Angelina on her bravery, men on Twitter decided to ridicule her, even calling her stupid for removing her breasts. For those of you on Tumblr that are attacking Feminists about being delusional about sexism against women and misogyny here’s your fucking proof that sexism and misogyny exists.
These people are being completely despicable. First of all, who cares if she’s going to have smaller boobs that’d be her choice regardless. Secondly, she’s preventing breast cancer, which most likely runs in her family, this is not sometime to joke about and sexualize and dehumanize, it’s a very difficult, personal matter. And thirdly, Angelina Jolie is perfection, a great actress, and I wish the best for her and her beautiful family.
I read about her reasoning this morning about getting it done. Before her surgery she had like 90+% chance to get breast cancer and after the surgery she has a less than 5% chance to get breast cancer. Good for her! The way these guys are reacting to it though is disgusting. They make her sound like she will no longer be beautiful because she had the double mastectomy. I find her more beautiful now.
